UFC 133. . Jones out. . Phil Davis in ?
UFC 133. . Jones out. . Phil Davis in. . .
With UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones (13-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) injured, UFC officials have now booked a bout between the champ's original opponent, Rashad Evans (15-1-1 MMA, 10-1-1 UFC), and replacement Phil Davis (9-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC).
Sources today confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) the new matchup, which takes place at UFC 133. The Canadian Press' Neil Davidson first reported the opponent switch, which was later officially announced by the UFC.
A source told MMAjunkie.com that Jones is facing a lengthy recovery from a torn right-hand ligament suffered in his title win. A timetable for his return wasn't immediately available.
Although not officially announced, UFC 133 is expected to take place Aug. 6 in Philadelphia. The main card is expected to air on pay-per-view.
The change of plans means another speed bump in Evans' request to reclaim the UFC's light-heavyweight title.
Evans had been in line to fight then-champ Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 128 before a knee injury forced Evans off the card. As Rua healed from his own knee injury, Evans sat out nearly a year waiting for the title shot rather than taking a non-championship bout and risking his shot at the belt. But when he lost the slot due to injury, UFC officials gave it to Jones following his early-February victory over fellow top prospect Ryan Bader at UFC 126.
Jones won the title from Rua in dominant fashion at UFC 128, which set up a meeting with Evans, a former training partner with whom he's now had a very public fallout.

But rather than Jones, Evans next will fight Davis, a former NCAA Division I national wrestling champion. Davis is 9-0 in his pro career, and the past five fights have come in the UFC. With victories over Brian Stann, Alexander Gustafsson, Rodney Wallace and Tim Boetsch, he began drawing comparisons to Jones. In this past month's UFC Fight Night 24 headliner, Davis scored one of his biggest wins yet: a hard-fought unanimous-decision victory over notable Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

Rules for Maintaining Wealth
Simple Formula for getting rich:
1. Make a good living in your job, profession, or business.
Gaining and Maintaining Wealth: A Guide to Financial & Estate Planning
2. Save a high percentage of your earnings and don't marry a spouse who likes to spend, spend, and spend some more.
3. Don't carry any credit card debt or have a home equity line of credit.
4. Make good safe, non-speculative investments in a Low Cost S & P Index Fund and/or Total Stock Market Index Fund, and High Quality diversified municipal bonds (not bond funds, but individual high quality munis) for fixed income . Avoid managed funds.
5. Be tax efficient with your investments and personal affairs
Renowned investor Joel Greenblatt can't keep a secret.
The founder of Gotham Capital, the hedge fund he started in 1985 that produced 40 percent annualized returns under his 20-year tutelage, wants you to be rich. Very rich. And it doesn't mean pouring your hard-earned money into five-star rated funds or hiring talking head money managers (they are plenty of them on cable business channels). In Mr. Greenblatt's latest book, The Big Secret for the Small Investor, he decodes the secrets of Wall Street for the average investor and debunks the most common myths of investing.
What's the biggest secret revealed? "Investing comes down to valuing something and paying a big discount to that value," Greenblatt recently told Breakout. In his book, Greenblatt gives plenty of examples of how to determine a company's valuation with simplified numbers and mathematical equations. He strips away the grandeur and lays bare the basics of investing. Greenblatt sys investors should look for a basket of companies that appear undervalued, because winning big in the stock market means "figuring out what something is worth and paying a lot less." Of course, determining a company's value and future earnings can be very difficult, even for the most sophisticated and experienced money managers, Greenblatt admits.
Another secret Greenblatt divulges is that market-cap weighed indexes beat most active managers —- and all successful managers go through periods of underperformance. Therefore, investors should avoid chasing managers based on prior performance stats -- as we know, past performance does not guarantee future success. Historically speaking, Greenblatt said 70 percent of active managers have underperformed the market over the past 10 years and "odds are investors are not going to find that superstar manager." Believe it or not, retail investors and money managers really do compete on an equal playing field, he adds. The market is "very emotional," and to separate the emotion from the reward, Greenblatt recommends buying ETFs —- specifically Value Index ETFs.
Follow Greenblatt's advice and your portfolio could soon be well ahead of the markets and outperforming even the most eminent managers. Warren Buffett and Ben Graham made fortunes looking for value, and so can you.

Jason “Mayhem” Miller has signed a new multi-fight deal with the UFC?
Mayhem is coming to the UFC.
One of the most colorful and creative fighters in the sport, Jason “Mayhem” Miller has signed a new multi-fight deal with the UFC.
The news was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com on Friday by his manager, Dr. Ryan Parsons, who stated Miller had signed a standard multi-fight deal with the promotion. MMAFighting.com initially reported the signing.
Miller signs with the UFC after biding his time on the sidelines in Strikeforce over the last few months. The California based fighter hasn’t fought since defeating iconic Japanese legend Kazushi Sakuraba last September.
Miller had been rumored to return in March in a rematch with Tim Kennedy, but the fight never came to fruition, and Mayhem continued to wait for a fight.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker spoke to MMAWeekly Radio just last week about Miller, but didn’t have any details about when he might be returning to action. Now that he’s with the UFC, the cat is out of the bag.
Parsons didn’t have any details about Miller’s return to action with the UFC, but did state they are in the process of figuring out when he will make his second appearance in the Octagon.

Miller did have one previous fight in the UFC back in 2005, losing a unanimous decision to Georges St-Pierre. Soon after that bout, Miller moved up to middleweight and has competed there ever since.

Nick Diaz will do boxing ?
This latest gem doesn't sound like Nick Diaz is "playing the game." as Dana White requested last year.
Renzo Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructional 11 Volumes on 3 DVD's
Outside the cage, that means the Strikeforce welterweight champ, has to show up for drug tests and fulfill some of his media responsibilities. Do that and there could be huge paydays awaiting him in the UFC. Oh, and one more thing ... don't sign boxing contracts.
The constantly displeased Diaz told HDNet there's no one for him to fight in Strikeforce and his life is a living hell. His trainer Cesar Gracie says the MMA star has signed a deal to fight former world champion boxer Fernando Vargas in September. Gracie says the Diaz camp is just waiting for Vargas, 33, to sign the contract.
Update - Camp Diaz says the Vargas fight is off:
"We were talking about Vargas, but the thing is, I just came under some information that Vargas apparently has some kind of medical issue where he's not able to pass the test any more, and he could be retiring," Gracie said. "Vargas was very interested, but unfortunately, if he can't pass the test, he can't pass the test."
Gracie says now Diaz wants to fight Jeff Lacy.
This is all an interesting development since Scott Coker has basically indicated Diaz can't box while under contract with Strikeforce.

Vargas claims he's making a comeback and told ESPN.com's Brett Okamoto in January that he had his weight down to 187 pounds. If his goal is to make a run at a world title again, why would Vargas risk his reputation by fighting someone from the MMA world? Who wants to bet this "dream" fight never comes off?
